Job Description
Embedded Risk Manager
Sterlings are engaged with a Financial Services company that are seeking an Embedded Risk Manager to strengthen their first line of defence. They will challenge product management and general management of risks, including its effort to identify, assess, respond to, and report and monitor risks.
In this role, the Risk Manager will challenge the assessment of internal controls by ensuring adherence to Control frameworks, and be able to identify issues resulting from audits or regulatory exams. They will be able to partner with management on risk response strategies to ensure these sufficiently address identified risks.
Responsibilities:
- Issue and action plans effectively to remediate issues, monitor timely remediation progress, and action remediation.
- Monitor the monthly solutions issues and action report and assess issues resulting from audits to determine if they should have been self-identified.
- Execute the annual sustainability reviews for both internal and external sourced action plans.
- Supervise the timeliness of all solutions business management issues and actions and establish escalation protocol for items at risk for being past due.
- Perform review, challenge, and ensure consistent workflow quality control of issues both self-identified, those resulting from risk assessments, and risk incidents.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Experience in risk across 1st line of defence
- Risk management and audit experience preferred.
- Extensive experience in a control function in a financial services organization, with primary focus on information technology highly preferred.
- Experience working in a global team and working with colleagues in remote locations preferred.
- Experience working in a regulated environment.
This is a permanent position based in London, operating on a hybrid work setup.

Senior Presales Solutions Consultant (RegTech)
Our client are a highly regarded, and already globally-renowned, UK based RegTech business providing innovative regulatory reporting software solutions, primarily to tier 1 and 2 Investment Banks.
This is an exciting time to join them. They are embarking on setting-up a presales function from scratch globally, starting from their global HQ in London. So you will be the first onboard to help with the sales effort of closing prospects and pipeline utilising your fantastic POC capabilities, product knowledge, and functional understanding of the regulatory reporting requirements that European Banks face. Secondly, you will be helping to form the presales blue-print and structure around presale client engagement through to close.
You will have previous experience of (ideally) regulatory reporting presales aligned to either Capital Reporting or Liquidity Reporting, or experience of working in capital or liquidity reporting consulting/management consulting for a consultancy firm who can transition into RegTech presales. Alternatively you may be working in product or implementation and wanting to make the move into strategic client acquisition and presales.

SQL Database Support Engineer - Financial Services
Sterlings are currently partnered with a Financial Services Company who are currently seeking a Database Support Engineer to join their EMEA Technology team.
The team drives support for the Microsoft SQL Server estate, working closely with Application Support and other technology stakeholders.
As well as responding to Incident & Request tickets and monitoring alerts, the team ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the companies recovery objectives.
From a technical perspective this person will configure SQL Server monitoring tools to minimise false alarms, perform regular patching of SQL Servers, raise and execute change requests and deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors.
The team also look at pro-active solutions so when performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
There will also be the opportunity to be involved in migration of database from On-Premise to Cloud technologies like AWS.
Key Requirements;
- Experience in helping build and operate highly available, complex customer facing systems at scale in a 24x7 environment
- Experience with clustering, disaster recovery and high availability
- The willingness to look at automating tasks with Ansible or similar tools
- Experience with Git and Github for code repository would be highly beneficial
- Knowledge of database security
- Strong understanding of enterprise monitoring solutions such as Nagios and HP Arcsight
